Professional experience

One of the founding partners of Souto Correa Advogados, Jorge Cesa Ferreira da Silva has wide experience in many legal practice areas. He works as a legal counsel, legal reviewer and as an arbitrator, both in consultancy and in judicial and arbitration proceedings.   

His track record includes relevant Brazilian cases involving civil, contractual, and extra-contractual liability.  

In 2019, he had relevant participation in counseling the rapporteur of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in the proceedings for passing the Economic Freedom Act (Law 13.874/2019). 

He has been a professor of Civil Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS), at UNISINOS, at the Superior School of the Judiciary (AJURIS) and at the Superior School Foundation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (ESMP), as well as a researcher linked to the University of Augsburg (Germany) between 2003 and 2006. He is the author of books, articles, and translations published in Brazil, Europe, and the United States, especially in the area of contracts.  

 

Education

  • Doctorate degree in Civil Law from the University of São Paulo (USP) – 2018;
  • Visiting Scholar at the University of Edinburgh (UK) – 2009;
  • Master’s degree in Private Law from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)- 1998;
  • Bachelor of Laws and Social Sciences from UFRGS – 1992.
