Diversity Committee
The Diversity Committee, established in 2017, is part of the company's governance. Its responsibilities include collecting data from the office on this topic, actively promoting discussion on related issues, and proposing effective actions to create a diverse environment focused on gender, race, and LGBTQIA+, addressing issues such as unconscious bias, mechanisms for selecting and retaining talent with different abilities, and others.
Our work to promote diversity was recognized in 2019 with the firm's nomination to compete for the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: Latin America 2019 in the Outstanding Firm for Furthering Diversity and Inclusion category, and in 2020 with the nomination of Patricia Alves (labor partner) in the Diversity & Inclusion Future Leader (Brazil) category.
Our actions also aim to increase racial diversity in our office. We are supporters of Black Tax Matters initiatives. We have been a member of CESA (Law Firms Study Center) since 2022. The "Incluir Direito" program aims to increase the participation of black men and women in business law. Through this partnership, our firm will provide mentoring and skills training programs for Afro-descendant lawyers and interns.
In 2022, Souto Correa Advogados joined the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), an initiative of UN Women and the Global Compact. This action, led by our Diversity Committee, reaffirms our commitment to valuing people, diversity and promoting gender equality inside and outside the firm.
